ANATOMY of the BREATH
An Experiential Workshop
Saturday October 5, 10a-5:30p
1108 11th St, Suite 102, Bellingham
The breath occupies a central seat in many meditative and somatic traditions. It’s is a gesture of physiological wonder, poetic beauty, and of great interest to many of us working with the body.
This one-day workshop will be an experiential immersion into this wondrous territory, employing anatomical insight, imagery, hands-on learning, gentle guided movement, and body centered meditation.
We’ll touch on:
- basic anatomy, including the diaphragm and phrenic nerves
- pertinent, and super interesting I think, embryology
- the vagus nerve and the gut-brain axis
- the psoas and pelvic floor
- experiential insight into breath-centered meditations
No previous knowledge of anatomy required. (Seriously, if you look at the list above and feel a little overwhelmed because you don’t know any of those words, all good and you should still come if the material interests you. This is a slow immersion into a few important concepts, not a quick tour of a bunch of concepts.)
